End of Life Champions in LB Croydon

Creating Conversations in Croydon, is a community collaborative project in partnership with St Christophers, Age UK Croydon and Cruse Croydon, with the aim to help people of all ages talk more openly about Death and Dying and to create their end of life plans.It  has been funded by Croydon Clinical Commissioning group to support the people of Croydon to begin the process of change.Bringing “Dying Matters” out fromthe medical world back into ourcommunities, and accepted as a  part of our life cycle.This proactive project aims to inform and encourage people in their end of life wishes and choices including where they may wish to die, understanding the legal medical directives, reflect on their funeral wishes but above all to share their wishes with family and friends. Research has shown this gives all involved, peace of mind, reducing family conflicts.

Creating Conversations in Croydon

Would you like to empower people in LB Croydon to break down the silence and have important conversations about dying, death and grief.

We are facing a time of such great upheaval and immeasurable change as we daily suffer through losses in various forms. The impact of living under the shadow of Covid-19 is far reaching and will last for a long time. Creating Conversations in Croydon project now in its 5th year, aims to encourage local people and professionals to feel more comfortable about talking openly about death, dying and grief. Death is a fact of life, impacting on all of us, but some find discussing it hard and few of us make plans. But the last year has taught us these conversations are more important than ever. Each of us needs to play our part in breaking down the silence and normalizing dying as part of the cycle of life, giving each of us a voice.The Creating Conversations project aims to create an environment where open conversations are welcome, whether that be in the GP surgeries, death cafes or in our community groups or homes. Would you like to be a part of empowering Croydon communities to have these important conversations and to offer people support in planning for the last years of life? Whether as a professional or as a Champion within your own community.Could you commit to four bite size free training sessions, with ongoing support. The training Zoom sessions will be Wednesdays 14,21,28 April and 5 May 2021 from 10am-1pmThis will be Creating Conversations 7th training in Croydon and is suitable for anyone with an interest in supporting residents of Croydon having supportive conversations in End of Life Care to include but not exhastive of<ul><li>GP staff including social prescribing personnel</li><li> primary health professionals</li><li>social care professionals </li><li>community organisations staff</li><li>community organisation volunteers</li><li>Community volunteers</li><li>GP patient participant members</li><li>Carers</li><li>anyone with an interest in being an End of Life Champion</li></ul>This training will be offered to employers, employees and volunteers in the LB Croydon in the first instance.
