Cyphers is a Hampshire-based theatre company, making and touring work across the UK.We make ensemble adaptations of classic stories for the stage. Q&A with Marcus Bazley & Will Holyhead, Co-Directors of Cyphers Theatre Company, covering routes into a career as a theatre director.

Marcus and Will answer questions and share experiences of their journeys from university students to professional theatre directors.The session will cover four potential routes into a career as a theatre director:<ul><li>Post-graduate drama school courses and further training</li><li>Assistant directing</li><li>Scratch nights</li><li>Setting up your own company.</li></ul>Marcus is a director and dramaturg who founded Cyphers in 2014, after studying History at King&#x27;s College London. He has directed and adapted the company’s productions of Henry V, Great Expectations, The Three Musketeers and Orlando, as well as directing Northanger Abbey. 
His work has been seen at venues across the UK and internationally, including: Cast Doncaster, Theatre Reine Blanche (Paris), Nuffield Southampton Theatres, Pleasance London, Everyman Theatre (Cheltenham). As Staff/Assistant Director: Beauty and the Beast (Salisbury Playhouse) and Aladdin (West End In Schools).
Will is a director who trained at Mountview, after studying English at King&#x27;s College London. He became co-artistic director of Cyphers in 2018 and co-directed The Three Musketeers.
 He has directed the London premiere of Every You Every Me by Barney Norris and Megaball by Sonali Bhattacharya for the National Theatre’s inaugural Let’s Play project. He is the Resident Director on the World Tour of the Tony and Olivier Award winning production of The King and I. He was Assistant Director on the West End production of Curtains by Kander &amp; Ebb.
