The Warwick people's inquiry: "What do we need to do in the Warwick District to help address climate change by 2030?"

You are invited to attend the recommendations launch event for the Warwick district Climate Change People’s Inquiry from 6.00 – 8.00pm on Thursday 25th February on zoom.This launch event is an opportunity for stakeholders and members of the public, with the help of members of the inquiry, to understand the People’s’ Inquiry recommendations. This is a free event, but you must register to attend. Joining instructions and the zoom link will be sent to you prior to the event. ………………………...The details of the event are as follows: The Launch Event for the Warwick district Climate Change People’s’ Inquiry is a chance to hear about the findings and recommendations of a diverse, group of members of the public from across the Warwick District region, selected by lottery. The inquiry met for ten sessions, starting on November 12th 2020 and finishing on February 4th 2021, some 30 hours of deliberation. They were asked to consider the question: “what do we need to do in the Warwick district to help address climate change by 2030”. At the launch event, members of the inquiry and facilitators will explain the process followed and the recommendations reached by the 30 inquiry members.Alongside the inquiry, an Oversight Panel worked to make sure that the process was fair and unbiased. The Panel, made up of a diverse range of stakeholders (including the Warwick District Council, Warwick University, Leamington Chamber of Trade, Extinction Rebellion and others) agreed the recruitment methodology and who the ‘commentators’ (outside experts) should be that present to the inquiry. Members of the inquiry were selected through a lottery but also chosen to make sure there was a diversity that reflected the wider population (e.g. age, geography, ethnicity, disability, attitude to climate change). The inquiry was organised by Shared Future, a community interest company that has run many similar deliberative processes.We want to make sure that this launch event is an opportunity for stakeholders and members of the public, with the help of members of the inquiry, to understand the People’s’ Inquiry recommendations.
