<h3>- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -</h3><h3>METHODS LAB and POP are pleased to co-host a workshop/masterclass by Professor Shahidha Bari  (University of the Arts London)</h3><ul><li>How do academics express their ideas in writing?  </li></ul><ul><li>What makes for an effective prose style? </li></ul><ul><li> And what are the different mediums by which researchers can share their work? </li></ul><p> In this workshop, we'll be looking at writing and considering the effects of different styles and forms.  We'll be considering what constitutes scholarly academic writing, reflecting on how to adapt research for knowledge exchange and public engagement, and exploring the art of the essay.  </p>

<p>-----------------------------------</p><p><strong>Professor Shahidha Bari </strong>is an academic, critic and broadcaster. She studied English at Cambridge and Cornell and taught philosophy and literary theory before turning to fashion studies. She is Professor of Fashion Cultures and Histories at London College of Fashion (University of the Arts London), the presenter of BBC Radio 3's nightly Free Thinking programme, also known as the Arts and Ideas podcast, and the occasional host of BBC Radio 4's Front Row.  </p><p>She’s the author of “Dressed: The Secret Life of Clothes” (2019), the winner of The Observer Anthony Burgess Arts Journalism Prize 2016 and has been a judge for the Forward Poetry Prizes and the Baillie Gifford Non-Fiction Prize. She writes for The Guardian, Times Literary Supplement and Frieze magazine. </p><p>-----------------------------------</p>

<h3>- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -</h3><h3>This workshop/masterclass and linked lecture are supported by METHODS LAB and the POP project :</h3><p><strong>METHODS LAB</strong> is is an experimental research collective based in the Sociology Department at Goldsmiths, University of London. It is co-directed by Dr Rebecca Coleman and Dr Kat Jungickel See <a href="http://www.methodslab.org" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">www.methodslab.org</a>.</p><p><strong>POP</strong>  is an European funded research project explorig the socio-histories of global clothing inventions from 1820 to 2020.
