Overview

Come and join us at our fortnightly craft and coffee club where we will get creative to support our Mental Wellbeing.

Introducing our new Craft and Coffee Club in Swadlincote in partnership with New Bloom Arts.

Our Craft sessions are open to adults (18+) who would like to explore and express theirselves through arts and craft.

In our relaxed setting, you can come along and have a cup of tea or coffee with the group whilst getting creative and calming the mind.

All are welcome to participate in some creative and mindfulness activities that participants can take home with them.

The Craft and Coffee club will be a safe place to relax, socialise and have fun with likeminded people.

Here's what to expect in the upcoming Craft and Coffee sessions:

Tuesday 5th May - Sewing - running stitch, cross stitch or blanket stitch, this session will have you experimenting with your own sewing patterns and designs. Participants are welcome to bring their own sewing kits if they prefer.

Tuesday 19th May - Stencil painting - use of stencils and acrylic paints to create interesting and vibrant pictures.

Tuesday 2nd June - Mosaics - Using small colourful glass tiles, a base and grouting we will be exploring how to create colourful designs and patterns.

Tuesday 16th June - Weaving - in this session we will be looking at how to do a basic but effective weave using strips of fabrics.

Tuesday 30th June - Glass painting - a playful session using glass and acrylic paints on empty jars. These jars can be taken home and used for fresh flowers, a pen pot, a tea light holder or whatever you may like…

Tuesday 14th July - Paint pouring on canvas boards (space to store and dry paintings dependent) - an exploration into and play around how paintings are not always needing brushes to create beautiful organic images and compositions.

Tuesday 28th July - Stain glass windows - we will be using card, coloured cellophane and/or tissue paper with clear sticky back plastic to create fabulous designs to place on your windows for the light to dance through.

Tuesday 11th August - Bottle wraps - reusing empty glass bottles and jars to wrap coloured string and/or wool around and adding embellishments. You will come away with a lovely vessel for fresh flowers or whatever you want to use them for!

Tuesday 25th August - You choose! - This session is yet to be confirmed! You will get the chance to put forward your suggestions for this session. Is there something you’d like to try or maybe something you’d like to revisit? Drop myself or Derbyshire Mind an email with your thoughts! My email: Steph@cre8ivetrix.co.uk or Derbyshire Mind: community@derbyshiremind.org.uk

Tuesday 8th September - Community blanket project week 1 - designing and sewing our own patches to bring together, to form a special blanket for the Derbyshire Mind site.

Tuesday 22nd September - Community blanket project week 2 - a continuation of week 1

Tuesday 6th October - Community blanket project week 3 - bringing all the patches together to create our final blanket

Tuesday 20th October - Printing - this time of year brings the leaves down to the ground. But what about using those leaves to print with and to create wonderful autumnal images? What other materials can be used to print with to create interesting textures and patterns?

All activities are subject to change due to suggestions from the group or available materials.
