Procurement and spending as a lever for change in anchor institutions

The Health Anchors Learning Network (HALN) is a UK-wide network for people who are interested in, or responsible for, anchor approaches to share ideas, knowledge and skills. Through individual and collective learning, participants will become better equipped to implement anchor strategies in practice. This will help maximise the health and care system’s social, economic and environmental impact, improve the social determinants of health and help reduce inequalities. The network is delivered by Innovation Unit and supported by the Health Foundation and NHS England and NHS Improvement.

Part 1 - Presentations and Q&amp;A 09:30 - 10:15You will have an opportunity to hear from expert speakers who have experience of using procurement and spending as a lever for change. There will be a mix of presentations and discussions between the speakers, and opportunities for participants to ask questions. This will be a Zoom meeting where you can choose whether to have your camera on or off. We are delighted to be joined by:<ul><li>Beth Pilgrim - Founder and CEO of Supply Change</li><li>Zach Nguyen - Senior Buyer, Commercial Development Directorate at East London NHS Foundation Trust</li><li>Alexandra Hammond - Head of Sustainable Procurement and Supply Chain at NHS England and NHS Improvement</li></ul>Part 2 - Invitation only workshop 10:15 - 11:00Following on from the presentations is an invitation only workshop for people who are leading procurement work in health anchors. It will be highly interactive and will involve opportunities to reflect on your own practice and share learning and ideas with other network participants in small groups. This part will require you to have your camera and mic on if possible. Who is it for?The event will be of most interest to those who work in procurement or local economic strategy teams. You might also be interested if you’re working in public health, or on large capital investment projects. Part 2 is for invitation only. What  are anchor institutions? Anchor institutions are large public sector organisations which are rooted in place and connected to their communities, such as universities, local authorities, and hospitals.  Anchors have significant assets and spending power and can consciously use these resources to benefit communities.  Joining the EventThis event will be held on Zoom and Part 1 will be recorded. After registering you will receive an email containing a unique link for you to join the event.
