Reboot: Voice with Hazel Holder

Since founding Clod Ensemble in 1995, director Suzy Willson and composer Paul Clark have developed a highly original performance language, creating provocative, finely-crafted work which is ambitious in scale and concept.Clod Ensemble works at the intersections where different artistic forms meet, transform and challenge each other, collaborating with dancers, actors, musicians, medics, architects and orchestras to create work which is presented in London, across the UK and internationally.Some of the theatres, dance houses, galleries and public spaces Clod Ensemble’s work has been presented in include Sadler’s Wells, Tate Modern, The Lowry Salford, Wales Millennium Centre, Serralves Museum Porto and Public Theater New York.

Explore a full variety of self expression through the release of your voice. This workshop will be a simple and positive introduction to breathing techniques that aim to help you calm the body and mind, as well as practical skills to build confidence to use your voice freely. Hazel works holistically - incorporating body, breath and voice into one approach - drawing on her embodied knowledge and experience from years of performing.Please wear loose clothing and bring an open heart.

Photo Hugo GlendenningHazel Holder has worked as an actor and singer for over twenty years and has a Masters Degree in Voice and Dialect from Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. She has worked as a performer and voice coach in UK and internationally including with The National Theatre, The Young Vic, The Royal Exchange and with Clod Ensemble. She has recently been working as a coach on Steve McQueen&#x27;s Small Axe (BBC) and The Power (Amazon).This artist development workshop is part of Clod Ensemble&#x27;s Reboot Spring 2021 season, <a href="https://www.clodensemble.com/whatson/reboot-spring-2021-season" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Bodies of Knowledge</a>.The programme celebrates the range of experience, expertise and unique perspective of the performers that work with Clod Ensemble. They are extraordinary artists with bodies of knowledge that extend well beyond the work of one company or choreographer.They hold an incredible variety of movement languages within their own bodies - having worked with many choreographers and theatre makers including Pina Bausch, Jacques Lecoq, Hofesh Schecter, Liv Lorent, Wayne McGregor, Akram Khan, Lea Anderson, Holly Blakey and Clod Ensemble as well as creating their own independent work.They offer a range of morning sessions to start the day as well as workshops which combine writing, drawing and sculpture, origami and movement. The sessions are suitable for everyone, including people who may not consider themselves dancers.
