<p>As UK PLC emerges from the third pandemic-induced lockdown, attention is increasingly turning to how to go about chipping away at the enormous debt incurred over the last year. Whilst increases in corporate and personal taxation rates will likely play a part, there is a strong case for the lion share to be sourced from increases in the taxation take from a growing economy in particular higher employment. </p><p>At the start of 2019, according to the BEIS there were c.1.4 million registered private firms in the UK, split by number of staff - Micro (1-9): c.1.16 million, Small (10-49): c.210 thousand, Medium (50-249): c.40 thousand and Large (250+): c.8 thousand</p>

<p>The future success of the c.50k medium-large organisations will be critical for the UKs economic recovery. However it is also clear from the sheer numerical scale, that there is a huge opportunity to support micro and small businesses to develop their businesses. </p><p>Why though is the rate of growth in these micro and small businesses behind their larger cousins? Nathan King will explore whether the answer to this question lies in the lack of systematic strengthening of these businesses over time, across the leadership, people, strategy, execution and finance dimensions.</p><h2>Speaker Bio: </h2><h3>Nathan King</h3><p><a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/nathanrjking/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Nathan King</a> is the founder and CEO of <a href="https://www.linkedin.com/company/addvantage-marketing/about/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">AddVantage Strategy</a>. He operates as a scale up and strategy consultant with a unique blend of expertise in markets and organisational design. He has an engineering degree and eighteen years marketing and operations experience with the likes of GlaxoSmithKline, Dairy Crest, PepsiCo and Britvic up to Director level. </p><p>Over the last eight years, Nathan has worked in the UK and Internationally with over fifty clients across multiple sectors including automotive, consumer goods, hospitality and technology. His clients have achieved impressive outcomes for example a 3D Printing business has doubled revenues three times over five years, winning a place in Europe’s Fastest Growing Companies 1000. </p><p>Nathan is also a course leader at the UK Government backed Small Business Leadership Programme at Brunel University.</p>
