A free in-conversation event with artist and creative producer Mohammed Ali and spoken word artist Amerah Saleh, hosted by Dr Nadia Khan.

BrumYODO are delighted to present another in-conversation event; the third in our series of facilitated conversations with interesting people from the world of art, comedy &amp; literature about death, dying and remembranceJoin Birmingham-based artists Mohammed Ali and Amerah Saleh as they talk to Dr Nadia Khan (Palliative Care Consultant at John Taylor Hospice) about the intersections and connections between their creative work and spiritual beliefs, and how they navigate the inevitable human experience of death and loss.This event is part of the online programme for BrumYODO&#x27;s festival A Matter of Life and Death - our annual arts and culture festival aiming to encourage conversation about death and dying. Our 2021 online programme is available to view on our <a href="https://brumyodo.org.uk/events/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Events page</a>, and further announcements will be made from the 6th April.About our speakers:Dr Nadia Khan is Palliative Care Consultant at John Taylor Hospice, Birmingham. She believes that facing death and loss with the right support can open doors to connection, meaning and growth. She works with a team who are passionate about improving the experience of people, families and communities from all walks of life who have non-curable illnesses. She has recently created a series of end-of-life videos for the British Islamic Medical Association. Mohammed Ali is a pioneer in the street-art movement and in 2008 established Soul City Arts where he works strategically to bring art into the lives of everyday people. He is also an educator and curator, a trustee at the Birmingham Museum &amp; Art Gallery and Associate Artist at the Birmingham Repertory Theatre. He has created art for live audiences throughout the world and was awarded an MBE 2016 for his service to Art and Community Cohesion.

Amerah Saleh is a spoken word artist whose Muslim Yemeni roots give her space to get lost and found on multiple occasions between identity. She is the co-founder of Verve Poetry Press, Board Member at Apples &amp; Snakes and General Manager of Beatfreeks. Amerah has performed all around Europe and has recently released her first collection called ‘I Am Not From Here’. Her work touches on identity, womanhood, religion and the obscure idea of belonging only to one place. Image Credit Paul Stringer
