What is the reason to start in Year 10?

Some students know early on what they want to do in their future career, so why not start developing their future plans now? The UTC extended offering  provides a whole year of extra teaching for every 2 years the student is with us due to the longer working day, so more time for additional skills.

Question 2

Am I allowed to leave my old school?

The government sends out a letter to families each year, explaining that students may switch schools at age 14 if they choose to. This letter is sent out to parents in September each year and then families can apply for a place at UTC Swindon.

Question 3

Are free school meals available?

Accepted Answer

All pupils eligible for free school meals have that entitlement.

Are there any fees?

Accepted Answer

No – UTCs are free to attend.

Question 5

Is it just for boys?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely not. Our school encourages and supports girls (and boys) in their personal and academic development and helps them achieve great next steps, whether that is further study, an apprenticeship or employment.
