More people than ever before are aware of ethical fashion and are championing for an industry to not only have accountability, but change the wastage created by the fashion industry. However, that is easier said than done! With nominal regulation and “greenwashing” aplenty, it’s infinitely harder than it should be for people to make ethical decisions when it comes to their consumption. Increased consumption is big business for the fashion industry. Not only do consumers want to buy, but brands want to sell, which is a hard cycle to break and convince the masses to buy more sustainably. Coupled with greenwashing and you have a recipe for disaster. It takes approximately 1,800 gallons of water to grow enough cotton to produce just one pair of jeans. This number alone shows the impact that one item of clothing can have on the planet. But of course, we can’t just eradicate clothing, so how can technology really help the fashion industry to become more sustainable?3 Sided Cube is an app development company that proudly specialises in tech for good. With a background as both a features writer and conceptual creative for the advertising industry, in her role at The Fabricant Michaela shapes its brand philosophy, conceptual storytelling and communications strategy.

After first meeting the London Fire Brigade in 2005, Kresse launched <a href="https://www.elvisandkresse.com/?gclid=CjwKCAjw1uiEBhBzEiwAO9B_HS6EIqshiT_t07LMdqtlsM43n6MM_zu9jPS2hhs1bB_kiF48HMEoDxoCPrQQAvD_BwE" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Elvis &amp; Kresse</a>, which rescues and transforms decommissioned fire hose into innovative lifestyle products and returns 50% of profits to the Fire Fighters Charity. The company now collects 12 different waste streams and has several charitable partnerships and collaborations across industries.

<a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/joeypringle/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Joey Pringle</a> is originally from just outside of north London England. Upon graduating with a BA Honors in furniture and product design, he relocated to Vancouver Canada, and landed back in the industry working as a technical bags developer for MEC &amp; then most recently the accessories lead for tentree. It was during his time at tentree where his job had him working with factories across Vietnam and China. On a business trip to China in 2018 Joey met with a factory in Guangzhou. It was on this trip where the conversation to start a green factory model developed. After another trip to China In late 2019, Joey decided to quit his job in Canada and relocate to China to start <a href="https://veshinfactory.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Veshinfactory</a>

<a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/illustroconsul/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Tony Dunkerley</a> is a Co- Founder of Justice in Fashion, whose mission is to reduce the exploitation and imbalance in the fashion industry, focusing on women and gender equality. Tony also works with international companies and global supply chain managers to help prevent forced labour infiltrating their supply chains. Tony if a former UK police detective and Covert Intelligence Officer, focusing on human trafficking. Tony is now an international law enforcement advisor on human trafficking and people smuggling to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in East Africa.

Melina is the Founder of Melina Bucher. The brand creates handbags that set a statement - highest quality products, made fully vegan and sustainable. All products are 100% vegan (PETA-approved) and made with innovative materials that outperform traditional leather, aiming to redefine the definition of luxury. As a female-led company they are pushing boundaries to create an authentic and ethical fashion world. Right now they are working on projects to make their value chain traceable via Blockchain and creating virtual 3D shopping experiences for their consumers.Melina is a scientist with a Master’s degree in Management. Besides leading her business she teaches sustainable fashion management at different universities and is engaged for the sustainable fashion movement through mentorships in the Textil Accelerator Germany for fashion startups.
