Agenda

Opening keynote - what the day is working towards and how it will help you in the coming months.

We look at how to choose a course and an institution that works for you. There will be practical tasks and small group activities. This is great for students and parents. This will be broken up into short sessions with some feedback. We will provide reference material for you to look at too. You may want to bring your laptop, chromebook or tablet. Phones are possibly too small for this, unless it has a VERY large screen.

University Choice - How do I decide which is best for me?

We review the reality behind the application process and how to use what you already have to the best affect. Is your Duke of Edinburgh award valuable? It may be, but it might not be? How important are grades? Do they care about my cycling proficiency? We show you how to appeal directly to the admissions tutors.

What do admissions tutors look for in an application?

We take questions from the audience. Whatever your question, this is your time to get the answers you need.

Q & A

Lunch

We walk you through what a good and bad personal statement look like and how to pique the interest of the admissions tutors. We look closely at things to avoid and things you ought to include. You will get material to help guide you through the practice exercises.

Drafting and crafting your personal statement.

We walk you through the practical steps of submitting your application, key dates and deadlines, things to be aware of who else you will need to support you in your application. Again, your pack will include all necessary support material.

Making your application and responding to offers.

We review questions from the day, summarise our reflections and the important points to keep in mind going forward. You are welcome to stay on and speak to the consultants directly too. 

Bringing it all together.
