Making things anew Collage Workshop with Kaori Homma In 1953, a young and relatively unknown artist called Robert Rauschenberg approached a famous artist William de Kooning and managed to gain a permission to erase the artist’s work and made a new artwork entitled “ Erased de Kooning Drawing” Artist Kaori Homma will introduce a method of creative process used by contemporary artists such as Richard Serra, Robert Rauschenberg, John Stezaker and Sophia Hulten. In this workshop you are invited to journey through a creative process by working with an existing conditions. Rather than focusing on your own creative ideas or artistic skillsets, you will be given a chance to examine the process of making in itself to consider what it takes to transform a thing. This workshop includes illustrated talk about historical and contemporary artists’ practice, a group discussion, as well as practical collage workshop. By the end of the session, each participant will take home a several pieces which might surprise you. There is also an op-portunity to exhibit your work at the end of the session. You do not need to have a prior experience in art, or artistic skillset to join this workshop. It is aimed for adults but children over 12 years old can join with a responsible adult su-pervision. We do not provide BSL interpreters for this session, so please arrange your own interpreter if you wanted.
