The Other MA (TOMA) is a 21st century art education programme shaped by its participants and designed to fit the everyday lives of contemporary artists. TOMA is currently the only postgraduate level art programme in Essex after all other were stopped by their host Universities. It was set up to offer responsive, affordable, accessible unaccredited art education to artists.Founded in 2016 by Emma Edmondson TOMA was set up in partnership with Metal in Southend, working with them for an incubation period before becoming an independent not for profit. TOMA believes in life-long learning and aim to make the possibility of postgraduate style art education accessible to all. The Old Waterworks

Sunday 30 May 2021, 3pm - 6pm Neoliberalism and reality TV culture has made our identities consumable. This workshop with <a href="https://www.instagram.com/fannyvonbeaverhausen/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Ruth Hazel</a> is a space for us to explore our trauma and joy without it being cheap middle class entertainment. This is not poverty porn for the trauma junkies.We’ll run through 3 writing exercises using food as a starting point.We invite you to bring some comfort food with you, something that sparks joy. We aren’t asking you to cook, babes, you can bring a tin of beans if you want to, there’ll be no judgement over the food you bring.This is about exploration over outcome. A shared experience where there will be room for collaboration. There’s no pressure for an end product.
