Hazel Hill Wood is a beautiful, secluded 70-acre wood and sustainable retreat and education centre, seven miles from Salisbury, offering unique scope for people to deepen their connection with nature and learn about living renewably.Our eventsprogrammeincludes retreats, conservation activities and the wood is available for hire and group bookings. Thefacilitiesinclude an indoor group room and large kitchen, heated bedrooms and sleeping lofts, good showers, compost loos, along with beautiful outside spaces, camping area and hot tub.  We can offer a range ofteaching inputsand conservation projects on programmes for external clients.

Join us to learn about the wildlife of Hazel Hill Wood, near Salisbury, during this 24 hour <a href="https://www.nhm.ac.uk/take-part/citizen-science/bioblitz.html" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">BioBlitz</a>. We&#x27;ll be running wildlife survey activities from 12-10pm on Saturday and 4am-12pm on Sunday. You are welcome to drop in for as long as you like. We are fully booked for staying overnight.Timings TBC but will include:- Pond dipping- Bug hunting- Wildflower survey- Bat walk- Dawn chorus walk- Small mammal trapping- Moth trappingChildren are welcome to come with a responsible adult who must supervise them at all times, including ensuring they follow social distancing guidelines.Your donation will support Hazel Hill Trust’s charitable work promoting wellbeing, resilience and sustainability: for individuals, society and the natural world.This event has been carefully planned to be covid-secure, following <a href="https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Government guidelines</a>. It’s all outdoor, with log seating available at the Campfire Circle and Roundhouse, plus plenty of space for picnic blankets and camping chairs. There are outdoor compost toilets with hand sanitiser, and we will have a mobile hand washing station with soap and water. Facilities Outdoor compost toilets and drinking water will be available; please bring everything else you need for the duration of your visit, including food. The nearest shop is 2 miles away in Pitton village, and is open 9am-1pm on Saturday and closed on Sunday.What to wearDress for the weather in clothes and sturdy shoes that you don&#x27;t mind getting dirty. We highly recommend long trousers due to the presence of ticks in the wood - please click <a href="https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/lyme-disease/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">here </a>for more info. Please check the weather forecast and bring waterproofs, warm layers, sun hat, sun protection and insect repellent as appropriate – if you’re not sure then bring it all! Remember, we will be outside for the duration and the temperature may drop rapidly after the sun goes down.What to bring- Hand sanitiser - we will have this at our base, but it would be helpful if you could bring your own too - Plenty of food and drink for yourself/your family- Picnic blanket or camping chairs- Clean bug pots - be creative and see what you can reuse, e.g. small jars, houmous pots- Binoculars if you have them- Wildlife identification books and mobile phone apps if you have them (though bear in mind there is very little internet at Hazel Hill Wood)We will share some equipment for surveys, and will require you to wash/sanitise your hands before using it. How to get hereHazel Hill Wood is located off Grimstead Road between Farley and East Grimstead. If using sat nav, use postcode SP5 1AU and you&#x27;ll see our yellow and green &quot;Hazel Hill Wood&quot; sign on the road - we don&#x27;t have a postcode but this is the farm opposite us. Being Covid-Wise at Hazel Hill WoodDo not come to Hazel Hill Wood and follow NHS guidance if you have any symptoms of coronavirus (a high temperature, a new, continuous cough or a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste) or if you are self-isolating.Throughout the day, please remember to follow Hands, Face, Space: 👐 	Hands - wash your hands regularly, including on arrival and before eating and drinking😷 	Face - wear a face covering when social distancing is not possible🙆 	Space - keep your distance from those not in your household
