Ironclad was created in 2020 as a place for writers, artists and theatre-makers to find each other, learn about the business of making art, and develop their skills.Founded by producer and writer couple Michelle Allen and Andrew Allen, after running the Cast Iron Theatre company for over seven years, Ironclad’s mission is to support, signpost and provide spaces where people can build community, write, make, discuss and learn.We know how hard it is to make connections, network and learn about how to get paid for what you do.We want to support all people and are especially interested in making sure that our work reaches people who currently have low incomes, or come from low income backgrounds.We’re also neurodivergent and know that being creative and neurodivergent adds additional complexities and barriers to networking, making and putting your work into the world.We have a mix of free events and some have a cost - which we try to keep as low as possible.Members of our community - Creative Cauldron (£12 per month) get tons of our events for free - or at a 20% discount plus our own Discord server to chat to friends and peers on. A FREE Zoom place for creatives to connect and check-in! There's no set theme! We'll chat all things creativity, performing arts and professional practice. The Creative Catch-up meetings aim to be a positive space to bring our community together, share ideas and think.This week our guest is: ANNA BURTTBrighton born and bred Anna Burtt is in her late twenties. She works in publishing and hosts over 150 online events with writers, agents and publishers a year as well as commissioning fiction and briefing numerous book covers in her freelance publishing work. She’s the founder of the West Hill Writers group; a community that have been coming to her classes for the last three years. She’s currently writing her first novel set in North Yorkshire and includes intergenerational friendship, terrible dates, grief and a lot of drag in a village hall. She’s the host of the Brighton Book Club podcast and show on Radio Reverb and is the co-host of The Mother of All Losses, a podcast where guests discuss and explore the death of a mother.------Our free events are just that, we want you to be there and we know times are HARD. As a not-for-profit, we welcome donations if you're able. It helps us do what we do.
