He was Research Fellow in Psychiatry and Psychology at St George's Hospital Medical School, University of London. He is the author ofThinking Psychologically(Palgrave) and co-editor ofAccounting for Relationships.  He is an occasional columnist forthe Guardian,theBBCand theTimes Higher. He currently works in private practice and was a volunteer therapist in Greater Manchester for several years.
