This is aimed at students who are in Y10,11 and 12 and their families.

<p>For students in Years 10,11 and 12 and their families. If you are considering university, this is a must. We will take you through the choices you face, the things you need to do now and how to ensure that you make an outstanding application when you do apply.</p>

Opening keynote - what the day is working towards and how it will help you in the coming months.

UCAS Fast Track

We look at how to choose a course and an institution that works for you. There will be practical tasks and small group activities. This is great for students and parents. This will be broken up into short sessions with some feedback. We will provide reference material for you to look at too. You may want to bring your laptop, chromebook or tablet. Phones are possibly too small for this, unless it has a VERY large screen. We will also discuss how Oxford and Cambridge may be quite different from other universities. We will also touch on studying abroad.

University Choice - How do I decide which is best for me?

We review the reality behind the application process and how to use what you already have to the best affect. Is your Duke of Edinburgh award valuable? It may be, but it might not be? How important are grades? Do they care about my cycling proficiency? We show you how to appeal directly to the admissions tutors.

What do admissions tutors look for in an application?

We take questions from the audience. Whatever your question, this is your time to get the answers you need.

Q & A

Lunch

This will be all about discussing the important issues with different career paths. The costs, the benefits and perhaps what the day to day work actually looks like. We will look at the pre-requisites for those courses and the 

Careers - What do they really look like?

We walk you through what a good and bad personal statement look like and how to pique the interest of the admissions tutors. We look closely at things to avoid and things you ought to include. You will get material to help guide you through the practice exercises.

Your personal statement

We review questions from the day, summarise our reflections and the important points to keep in mind going forward. You are welcome to stay on and speak to the consultants directly too.
