Writing Panel with three established writers and lecturers to expand your knowledge into the world of writing.

Elan Gamaker:Scriptwriter and director Elan Gamaker, a two-time resident of Amsterdam’s Binger Filmlab, has worked under international script tutors such as Hettie Macdonald, Mark Travis, Judith Weston, Martin Daniel, Arne Bro, Gyula Gazdag, Franz Rodenkirchen and Jacques Akchoti. He was also the founder and head writer of Soho-based writing consultancy Scriptwriter London. Writing recognition includes Next Year in Jerusalem(Nominated, BBC International Playwriting Award), Jutro (Winner, Beeld Best New Play), Hidden Life (Nominated, Best Screenplay (Short), AMA Awards). After writing and directing the award-winning features Visa/Vie (2011) and Icehorse (2014), his next feature project is The Night Outside, a supernatural drama set in 1980s South Africa. Apart from script consultancy, he is Senior Lecturer in Film at the University of Roehampton, London, where he is convenor of postgraduate screenwriting. www.elangamaker.com Dr Tim Atkins:Tim Atkins has been a member of the summer faculty at The Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics at Naropa University, and a member of Carla Harryman&#x27;s Poets Theatre in San Francisco. He is the author of many books, including Atkins Collected Petrarch (a Times Literary Supplement and Salon.com book of the year), Deep Osaka (a photobook), Koto Y Yo (all from Crater Press), 25 Sonnets (The Figures), Petrarch (Book Thug), Horace (O Books) and a collaboration with his daughter, Yuki Lily Matsubayashi Atkins, A Girl Is A Machine Made Of Birds (Canary Woof Press). He is also the author of a play: The World’s Furious Song Flows Through My Skirt (Stoma Press) and a novel The Bath-Tub (forthcoming from Boiler House Press). Poems have appeared in many anthologies, including The Penguin Book of the Prose Poem (2018) The Reality Street Book of the Sonnet, and Faber’s The Thunder Mutters (ed. Alice Oswald).Dr Juan Perez Gonzalez:Dr Juan Perez Gonzalez, Senior Lecturer in Journalism. Juan has taught Journalism at Roehampton since 2007. Previously, he taught at the University of Havana, his alma mater (he is Cuban, a habanero), and the University of Sunderland. He holds a MA and PhD from the University of Westminster, though he still wonders about it, how that happened… A PhD, really? Juan’s plan was to be a journalist, but things got out of control. He was expelled from the newspaper he worked for in Havana because the public (and more importantly, the Communist Party) misunderstood something he wrote and thought he was calling for (another) revolution. He then learned that words are deceitful mistresses. His articles and columns have appeared in several Cuban publications, and others of Latin America and the United States.
