Join an inspiring nature experience with us! We'll learn to identify birds by their songs, make new friends and enjoy the Solstice together.

York Racecourse

We&#x27;ll stroll across the Knavesmire to the Woods and enjoy the musical voices of the Knavesmire birds as they end their day. We&#x27;re delighted to be joined by local guide Andy Chapman who will help us identify the birds by their voices. Andy regularly leads Bird Walks for the RSPB and has led several Chorus Walks for us as part of the Walk Cycle Festivals.We are also approaching the celebration of light that is the Summer Solstice. Another reason to come along and enjoy being out and about together at this very special time of year!PracticalitiesMeet at 7pm outside the entrance to the Knavesmire, at the corner of Campleshon and Knavesmire Roads. Please allow up to 2 hours for the walk. It will take place at a steady pace, with breaks where desired. Please note that group numbers are currently limited to 12 people. Check the weather forecast beforehand and wear suitable clothing. Please do not attend if you are unwell. Bring any personal medication and, ideally, hand sanitiser and a face covering in case they are needed. For a walk, wear walk and mud-friendly shoes. For a ride, bring a roadworthy bike, spare inner tube and working lights.We try to make all our walks and rides accessible for people of all ages and abilities. Please get in touch if necessary, and we’ll do our best to meet your needs. Do consider travelling to the activity by sustainable transport if you can. All start points are easily accessible by bus or bike. There is cycle parking at the start point.We will be observing the current Covid-19 government precautions.
