Writing for Wellbeing in collaboration with Growing Choices, Pilsley

Leonie Martin is a Chesterfield based freelance writer, Writing for Wellbeing workshop facilitator and author of fiction and non-fiction works, including books and articles for local and national health and lifestyle magazines. She has had short stories and poetry published in anthologies and online platforms.  Drawing on experience as a writer on the Arts Council England funded ‘Writing Ambitions- Derbyshire Residencies Scheme’ in 2017 Leonie has since facilitated regular Writing for Wellbeing workshops at Chesterfield Library and bespoke writing workshops for a range of community groups including a local mental health charity, an addiction recovery centre, St John's Church Walton, and Whirlow Spirituality Centre in Sheffield. She worked as Shadow Writer on The Elder Tree project with Writing East Midlands during 2021 and with Chesterfield Museum, encouraging Chesterfield residents to write about and share their experiences of Lockdown. She can facilitate workshops in-situ or online via Zoom. Leonie is a member of NAWE (National Association of Writers in Education) The Society of Authors and LAPIDUS. She holds Public Liability Insurance and DBS Clearance. She graduated with a BA (hons) in English Literature with Creative Writing with The Open University in 2021.

A guided writing workshop on the theme of  Growing Choices to inspire your creativity and build positive connections through nature

Try Writing for Wellbeing at this online workshop on the theme of Growing Choices. Using a series of engaging prompts based on the five senses and the theme of Growing Choices you’ll be encouraged to unlock your imagination and put pen to paper. Working within a safe and respectful space, therapeutic writing can open the door to new voices, ideas and points of view that widen and deepen our own perspective, as well as offering a sense of achievement and participation. Participants will be given the opportunity to share their written responses within the workshop, but this will always be optional. The emphasis in this workshop will be relaxing and taking part, rather than producing a polished piece of writing. No previous knowledge or experience of creative writing is needed; writers of all levels of experience are welcome. You should be aged 18 years and above. You will need either a smart phone, tablet, laptop or other computer with internet access to take part in this online workshop.You will also need your preferred writing materials so that you can write in response to the prompts provided. Handouts might be provided for download/printing at home.Imaginative writing can sometimes bring emotions to the surface. Please consider the support you have around you and who you can call or message if you feel you need support following your writingAfter you have booked, an email with joining instructions will be sent to you before the date of the workshop.
