Ojalá: la vuelta al origen, meaning ' The Return to the Origin' is a remarkable documentary exploring what it means to be a descendant of Palestine in Chile, and how cultural resistance finds life through movement and rhythm.
Following Anne Marie Lolas, the daughter of a Palestinian father and a Chilean mother, and a dedicated teacher of bellydance and Dabke in Santiago. The film traces how dance becomes both a bridge between worlds and a steadfast act of remembrance. Through Anne Marie’s eyes, the story unfolds as an intimate conversation on diasporic identity, heritage, and the embodied power of tradition in exile.
Directed by Yasmine Benabdallah, a filmmaker and video artist whose work explores memory, performance, diaspora, archives, and rituals.
