The National Museum of Computing (TNMOC) is home to the world's largest collection of working historic computers.Follow the development of computing: from the Turing-Welchman Bombe and Colossus of the 1940s through the large systems and mainframes of the 1950s, 60s and 70s, to the rise of personal computing and the rise of mobile computing and the internet.Recognised as one of England’s top 100 ‘irreplaceable places’, we welcome corporate and group visits, schools and individuals from all over the world.We are normally open Tuesday to Friday 10:30 -17:00, Saturday & Sunday 10:30 – 17:00. A Virtual Talk by Dr Mark BaldwinAbout 30 years after the end of WW2, Frederick Winterbotham’s book ‘The Ultra Secret’ caused a sensation, with its revelations about the achievements of the Bletchley Park codebreakers. Dr. Mark Baldwin sets the book in its proper context, and examines some of the effects it produced. He also explains why serious historians should be aware of the pitfalls and problems in identifying ‘First Editions’, and why this is worth undertaking.About the speaker:Dr Mark ‘Enigma’ Baldwin is an international expert and professional speaker on the Enigma Machine, the History of Cryptography, and the Special Operations Executive (SOE), and has delivered more than 700 talks to over 60,000 people on these topics, all over the world.The talk will last approx 1h 30mins including a Q &amp; A session at the end.
