Are you aged 14 to 25?Are you interested in song writing?Do you want to help create a song about libraries and what they mean to you?Derbyshire Libraries has been successful in bidding for Arts Council England funding as part of their Lottery Grants programme. The ‘Derbyshire Sings’ project is an exciting opportunity for existing library customers to be involved in the creation of a song about libraries, and what the library means to them. This free online song writing workshop will be led by Carole Copeland, Youth Theatre Director at the Pomegranate Theatre. The workshop is for young people aged 14 to 25 and will explore opinions and use of the library, which will then be used in the creation of a unique advocacy song to encourage use of libraries.To take part you must have experience of using the library service but no song writing experience or singing ability is needed! The workshop will take place on Zoom and a link to the event will be sent to you nearer the time.Jonathan Francis, Artistic Director at Chesterfield Studios, will create a musical soundtrack and you will have the opportunity to rehearse, perform, and record the song alongside the Rose Choir, however this is entirely optional.
