CPD unit in Powder Handling in Additive Manufacturing

Following on from the success of the Emerging Skills Project*, the Faraday Institution, as a delivery partner of the Faraday Battery Challenge by Innovate UK, has commissioned the creation of six further battery units to support skills needs in the battery sector.The six new units, which will be freely available to all in the future, will be delivered as pilot courses in Feb/March as a combination of face to face and online delivery.Free places are available on these pilots to employees from organisations based in the UK.If you require any further information, please get in touch with paul@sectortech.co.uk*The Emerging Skills Project was a pilot programme which formed part of the UK Government’s transformation of further and technical education in England and ended in March 2022. The Department for Education, through the High Value Manufacturing Catapult,  piloted a collaborative project to develop cutting edge learning materials for the delivery of Emerging Skills. This is a 1 day course for CPD on the safe handling of powder in Additive Manufacturing

This CPD unit is available to any employer and their employees who will benefit from the course and is at no cost to the employer.This course will provide you with the necessary skills and knowledge to be able to safely handle and process AM powders, mainly metals, but also polymers, and will cover the various stages involved from initial receipt through to disposal.More specifically, the topics covered during the day are:<ul><li>Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of the powder handling (PH) processes</li><li>Apply best-practice guidelines to ensure powder quality is maintained during transportation, storage, use, recycling and disposal</li><li>List the steps in the AM powder handling process and apply best-practice to the quality from receipt to disposal</li><li>List the safety considerations at each stage of the AM powder handling process</li></ul><ul>NB: this unit is available to colleagues from the HVMC centres but priority will be given to employers first.</ul>
