Ever wanted to be a scientist? Now’s your chance! Join us for this exciting workshop for kids to find out about the magic of DNA. DNA is super important, it’s like a set of instructions in every living thing that tells our bodies how to grow and function. And what’s even better, is that with a little bit of science, we can see it for ourselves!We’ll be kicking off our workshop in St Mary’s Church with the story of one of its most famous visitors, King Richard III, before doing our very own DNA experiment using fruit!Designed for ages 6-12. Do I need to bring anything? Nope! We’ll provide everything you need, just bring yourselves and your enthusiasm!Are parents welcome? Of course! Feel free to come along to supervise if you like. Unfortunately, because of the limited capacity due to Covid-19, we can only allow one adult per family. Please book one ticket per person attending, adult or child.Additional InformationYour workshop will be led by Ginny, a real-life archaeologist with DigVentures. DigVentures are working in partnership with St Mary’s to organize the Windows to the World Festival as part of a wider project to bring more people into the wonderful church of St Mary’s.If you know when you want to join us, we advise you to book a free ticket. We also hold back a small number of tickets for walk-ins on the day. These places will be distributed on a first come first served basis. So make sure you come early to save yourself a space!Keeping you safeIn response to Covid-19, we are following public health guidance and may have additional measures in place, which are carefully designed to keep you and our staff safe and healthy. This means that you will have to wear a mask while you are inside the church, with the exception of those who are medically exempt or under 11 years of age.About Windows To The World:This workshop is part of a festival for the NLHF funded &#x27;Windows to the World&#x27; project. From the 12th to the 23rd of July, Windows to the World Festival is celebrating the colourful history of the oldest church in Barnard Castle – through art, music, and history.The church will be home to Journeys – Teithiau, a stunning exhibition of stained glass artwork by Jonathan Cooke, Catrin Davies, Nicola Kantorowicz, Elizabeth Lamont, Rachel Phillips, and Christian Ryan currently exhibited at the Stained Glass Museum at Ely.We will offer workshops, tours, performances and heaps of other exciting activities. The Windows to the World festival will be sure to offer something for curious minds of all ages.
