Welsh Shooting is the National Governing Body for target shooting sports in Wales. It is the central point for communication with the Sports Council and the Commonwealth Games Council for Wales. <h2>The Welsh Open and Confined Championships and Pathway Competition- is kindly hosted by Llandovery RFC, supported by the Welsh Target Shooting Federation and the Welsh Airgun Association. </h2>CLOSING DATE: 7.08.21The event consists of a Pathway Competition open to Junior and Seniors on 49.5mm knockdown targets followed by the Welsh Open and Confined Championships open to Juniors and Seniors on 35mm knockdown targets. IMPORTANT: Athletes will require a British Shooting Target Sprint Safety Certificate to compete. These must be attained prior to the event and must be evidenced at registration on the day of the event or else the athlete will not be permitted to participate and no refunds will be paid in such circumstances. No spectators are permitted at this event due to Covid restrictions. If you have any queries in this regard contact the organiser at targetsprintcymru@talktalk.net.Competition Programme: There will be races with results ranked on times. Competition programme will be announced following the closing date for entries. Registration is required no later than 45 minutes before each race start time.The Welsh Championships will be on 35mm knockdown targets. The Pathway Competition will be on 49.5mm knockdown targets. Only athletes satisfying the Welsh AirGun Association criteria ( Born in Wales, Welsh Parentage or Resident in Wales for a minimum of 2 years may participate in the Welsh Confined Competition). All athletes may participate in the Welsh Open Championships and Pathway Competition. N.B. The Welsh Open and confined competitions shall be run concurrently with results extrapolated from the races.The competition will be run in accordance with the ISSF Rules 2021 Edition current as at 28 June 2021, subject to venue specific amendments. All results and interpretation of the rules are determined by the competition Chief Range Officer whose decision is final. There are no grounds for appeal.In the event of any equipment malfunction there will be no opportunity for the athlete to re-take their race and no refunds will be paid in such circumstances. Race Format: (Same for all age categories). 400m Run - Shoot 5 Knockdown Targets - 400m Run - Shoot 5 Knockdown Targets - 400m Run Age Groups:Junior Men and Women aged no younger than 11years of age and no older than 20 years of age on the 21 August 2021. Senior Men and Women aged 21 years of age or older on the 21 August 2021. Equipment: Rifles may be provided by the organiser upon advance agreement with the organiser (targetsprintcymru@talktalk.net) not later than 7 August 2021. If athletes bring their own Air Rifles, they must comply with the equipment rules of the ISSF Rules 2021 Edition current as at 28 June 2021. All athletes are to supply their own ammunition which is to be .177 calibre 4.5mm flat head pellets. Pellets may be purchased on the day of the event when registering for cash at £5/tin.Experience: Experience and a valid Target Sprint Safety Certificate is required as a condition to participate at the event.Preparation Time: 5 minutes preparation time will be allocated prior to each race.
