What is Connect 5?Connect 5 is a mental health promotion training programme, developed through a unique collaboration between Public Health England &amp; Health Education England. Participants will receive NHS Health Education England certificate upon sucessful completion. Connect 5 has been designed to help people manage stress and distress and increase their resilience and mental wellbeing through positive change. This training is for anyone who wants to improve their mental health and wellbeing; and then to share this knowledge with others within the workplace, home or the community. We recommend participants to attend all three sessions chronologically. However, the training is designed as such that there is no need to have a FOMO for attending only one or two sessions in any order. Each session is 3 hours long, and participants have an option to either attend a morning or an evening session for all three sessions. Session 1 Date : Monday 27th Sep 2021 (AM session: 10am-1pm or PM session: 7pm-10pm) BST/UK TimeSession 2 Date: Monday 4th Oct 2021(AM session 10am - 1pm or PM session : 7pm-10pm) BST/UK TimeSession 3 Date: Monday 11th Oct 2021 (AM session 10am - 1pm or PM session : 7pm-10pm)BST/UK TimeWhat will I learn ?Session 1: Monday 27th Sep 2021 (10am - 1pm or 7pm - 10pm) BST/UK Time Develop the skills and confidence to discuss Mental health and wellbeing issues within daily practice Explain mental health and wellbeing by using specific public health models and self-help principles Recognise the qualities and attitudes needed to work with mental health and Wellbeing Identify local mental health and Wellbeing resources and services that support the communitySession 2: Monday 4th Oct 2021 (10am - 1pm or 7pm - 10pm) BST/UK Time Apply the five areas model in conversations about mental health and wellbeing Recognise the nature and extent of mental health and wellbeing issues being presented and how best to deal with them. Practice skills needed to start, follow and end a conversation about mental health and wellbeing Identify steps that can be taken to improve mental health Identify local services and resources that help break the vicious cycle to improve mental health and wellbeingSession 3: Monday 11th Oct 2021 (10am - 1pm or 7pm - 10pm ) BST/UK Time Integrate what you have learned with your existing knowledge, skills and techniques so as to offer more effective support Facilitate the use of self-management strategies to support successful change processes Apply practical strategies and techniques relating to the five areas model Work collaboratively with a client to produce an action plan Integrate the use of self-help resources and interventions into practice Identify self-management strategies and resources to support othersHow will I learn ?Each session is practical and interactive, using a variety of PowerPoint presentations, group discussions, small group work, and practical exercises in pairs.
