CEDA is an Exeter based charity working with disabled people of all ages.  In 2013 CEDA received funding from the National Lottery to establish a range of behavioural support services for parents and carers, as well as creating a better network of understanding and support within the local community for behavioural based difficulties and disabilities.Many individuals with behavioural Support needs are isolated and overlooked by community settings and their access to society is limited. BIS-net can help by increasing awareness and understanding within the local community, as well as providing support for parents, carers and those individuals themselves to manage and cope with difficult, challenging or aggressive behaviours.

A webinar focused on creating secure attachments Autistic children with a PDA profile featuring two Autistic adults with PDA.

Understanding attachments styles can give us insight as parents into how we create a secure attachment with our child. However, as is often the case, the guidance around forming these attachments is based on research and ideas that mainly focus on Neurotypical children. A recommendation for creating a secure attachment with a child is often given as 'setting boundaries and limits.' This is something that can be hugely complicated and distressful if done in the wrong way for an Autistic child with a PDA profile. This is just one example where we may need a rethink when it comes to creating secure attachments with our PDA children. In this webinar you will cover:* How PDA can effect typical approaches to creating secure attachment.* How the outside world effects your child's attachment.* Adjustments and approaches to creating secure attachment with an Autistic child with a PDA profile.Your host Sam Harris has been supporting Autistic children with a PDA profile for over a decade in various roles and has worked with parents and families to help them identify and implement changes, as well as cope with some of the judgement and misdirection they face from the world around them. Sam will be joined by two fantastic guest hosts for this webinar. Harry Thompson 'The PDA Extraordinaire,' is an Autistic &amp; PDA Writer, Public Speaker, Educator, Advocate &amp; Consultant. He uses his own insight to help guide both parents and professionals towards a deeper understanding and ways of conceptualising approaches to support. His friend and colleague Linara Tyler will also be adding her perspective as a PDA and Autistic and ADHD self-advocate and relationship advisor. Linara is a self-directed expert in Attachments styles and uses them to make sense of her own relationships as an Autistic adult with a PDA profile.
