Quantitative Research Methods: Introduction to SPSS

The course will provide an overview of the primary data analysis steps for SPSS users covering:

1. Software layout
2. Data/Variable View
3. Commands menu/using syntax codes in SPSS
4. Opening/Importing and exporting datasets
5. Conduct preliminary exploration on dataset:

a. Descriptive statistics

b. Visualizing your variables

c. Intro to statistical tests

At the end of the session students will be able to:

1. Import and export datasets into SPSS
2. Use the command menu and syntax
3. Conduct initial investigation on a dataset
4. Interpret outputs of descriptive statistics
5. Create simple visualization for variables in the dataset
6. Conduct and interpret simple statistical tests
