As part of National Inclusion Week, join us for an Introduction to British Sign Language with Caroline Palmer, Director of Talking Hands BSL

As it’s National Inclusion week, what better way to be inclusive than to learn British Sign Language. In the UK there are currently 151,000 British Sign Language users, 87,000 of whom are deaf.For a hearing person every day tasks are made simple by an ability to speak the native language. For a deaf person, speaking the language may not be an option. In fact, reading and writing is often a problem for deaf people. For many deaf people, British Sign Language is their only way to communicate, so it would make the lives of deaf people that little bit easier if we all learned some basic British Sign Language.Caroline is a profoundly deaf person and a teacher of British Sign Language, with over twenty years of experience.
