A whole day workshop for 12 people in which we will design and make
several dramatic quilts.

St. Paul's Church, Cambridge

You will be introduced to the extraordinary quilts made by groups of African American women in Gee’s Bend, Alabama. Based on the dramatic scale, colour and structure of those famous pieces, you will become collaborators in the processes of designing, colour selection, cutting and assembling new large- scale works.The workshop will focus on ways of working together. This is a shared and social event. What we make will be a demonstration of who we are and how we function as a community, just like the women in Gee’s Bend.Sue Calverley graduated from Winchester School of Art with a degree in Fashion, Woven and Knitted Textiles. Kip Gresham is an artist printmaker who works in close collaboration with a wide range of contemporary artists. Colour and abstract imagery are at the heart of his activity.
