East Grinstead Museum is a local history museum in the heart of this historic town. It tells the story both of the development of the town, from the Middle Ages to the modern day, and of the remarkable story of SIr Archibald McIndoe a pioneering plastic surgeon and the air men who's lives he saved during the Second World War.It hosts a variety of engaging events from local history talks to children's activities, exhibitions and many other things besides.

Join us as we learn about the life and times of Bob Marchant, former Chief Operating Department Assistant at the Queen Victoria Hospital

The Guinea Pig Club, founded in 1941 by patients of the famed plastic surgeon Sir Archibald McIndoe celebrates it&#x27;s 80th anniversary  in 2021.As part of this, we are hosting a series of events focused on the impact of the club.This talk is an interview with Bob Marchant, former Chief Operating Department Assistant at the Queen Victoria Hospital. It discusses Bob&#x27;s work at the Hospital and his time working under Sir Archibald McIndoe. Alongside this, the interview also covers his role as the Honorary Secretary of the Guinea Pig Club and his work in setting up the Queen Victoria Hospital Museum.About the SpeakerAs Honorary  Secretary of the Guinea Pig Club, and a Trustee of the Museum, Bob Marchant joined the staff at the QVH in 1956, following his 3 years service in the Royal Air Force Medical Branch. Retiring after 42 years as the Chief Operating Department Assistant, Bob had the privilege of working with Sir Archibald McIndoe prior to his death in 1960.(The Cover image is of Bob meeting HRH Prince Phillip in 1995 at the Queen Victoria Hospital Museum)
