<h2>Hi3 Network: Are You Innovation Ready?</h2>If you are looking to move from business survival to business expansion, this programme will help you do this through a compact series of workshops led by industry specialists on the fundamentals of business growth and innovation, as well as university researchers who are at the cutting edge of creative technologies and are keen to share knowledge, skills and tools with your business so it can better position itself ahead of the curve. <a href="https://www.sbi.business/hi3/home" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Hi3 Network</a>&#x27;s 3-day programme was developed for small businesses and sole-traders looking to understand how to future-proof their business and find innovation through creative technologies. These sessions take place from 10:30am - 4pm and include time to network with like-minded peers, as well as take built-in breaks. You are eligible if you are a <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Small_and_medium-sized_enterprises#United_Kingdom" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">small to medium sized enterprise (SME)</a> registered in England, you can come from any industry. Places are limited!<h2>What to expect:</h2><h3>DAY 1: WHERE TO BEGIN (TUES 14 SEP)</h3>Developing a new idea: <a href="https://redochre.org.uk/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Uday Thakkar </a>will guide you through techniques to identify market gaps and customer needs whilst exploring strategies for developing new products/services and appraising them. You will receive advice and direction on testing the right idea for the right time using business models, with methods of resilience to help prepare for setbacks and unexpected change. Tools and templates to support planning will also be provided.Trends, insights and market analysis: <a href="https://redochre.org.uk/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Robert Foster</a> will incorporate learnings from the morning and explain how to expand market analysis techniques further to make these work for your business. You will then have a clear understanding of trend analysis, its benefits and how to implement it. By the end of Day 1, you should be equipped with a practical framework that will enable you to manage the trends analysis process and put your insights to use.<h3>DAY 2: COLLABORATION (WEDS 15 SEP)</h3>Working with Researchers: University researchers are often also practitioners who work or have worked in industry. The researchers who will join Hi3 Network are experts in the moving image, gaming, sound, Virtual Reality, VFX, animation, and performance. They are researching emerging technologies, aesthetics, audiences, and industry processes and practices to make discoveries that businesses like yours will be able to potentially use. As part of Hi3 Network, you have the opportunity to co-create and test your developing ideas directly with those who have innovation at the heart of what they do. Invited researchers from <a href="https://www.lsbu.ac.uk/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">LSBU</a> and <a href="https://www.canterbury.ac.uk/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">CCCU</a> will share what they are currently experimenting with, giving your insights into their findings, and detailing the areas of expertise and interest that might be useful for your firm. It is a fantastic opportunity for you to discuss potential projects and find out what outcomes research collaborations might generate. This may then lead to new ways to implement existing technologies, new forms of content, or ways to engage with your customers. Hi3 Network aims to actively support the development of new products, services, or experiences.Working in the Cloud: The pandemic and remote working have proven that staying connected is vital for businesses. For most businesses the cloud has quickly moved from being an accessible place to store stuff when hard-drives are full to a means of running your business. Gain insight on how the cloud and how connectivity will become increasingly important for your business, what different models of cloud computing and storage are available, as well as the benefits and risks to consider. Hi3 Network has three innovation hubs with three studio spaces in Canterbury, Maidstone and Folkestone. Through a private network and through cloud computing and storage, these three locations are connected to create one large studio making interactions between hubs seamless and the possibilities of collaborations endless.By the end of Day 2, you&#x27;ll be best equipped for collaborative working. You will know how your business can profit from collaborating with university researchers and how the right choice of cloud and connectivity can improve your relationship with collaborators, clients and the world. <h3>DAY 3: COMMERCIALISING YOUR NEW PRODUCT, SERVICE OR EXPERIENCE (THURS 16 SEP)</h3>Intellectual Property for Creative Technologies: <a href="https://www.briffa.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Elisabetta Bestetti</a> will share the latest information and guidance regarding Intellectual Property (IP) rights in screen-based and immersive technologies, so you are aware of what can be protected, as well as the costs and benefits of IP registration for each business. You will learn the latest guidance on registering IP in the UK and EU post-Brexit, and receive advice on building IP protection into contracts. The workshop will also explore the role of IP in collaborative innovation, with guidance on registering and holding IP rights in collaborative agreements.Funding Your Innovation: The final workshop will take you through an in-depth look at financial support for businesses, with particular insight given to funding opportunities in Kent, Essex, and East Sussex. Key discussion points in this workshop include getting investment ready, a guide to crowdfunding, as well as learning how to apply for research and development tax credits.By the end of Day 3, you will understand the IP framework that protect your ideas and be able to find ways to share these with the right investors and funding opportunities.
