Greenlight for girls started with one e-mail sent to around the world with one question:Do you believe there is something we need to do to encourage girls in STEM?Since then, we have engaged and inspired over60,000 studentsworking with our growing network of13,000+volunteer role models at over450 eventsworldwide in109 cities,35 countries, and6 continentswhich show the link of STEM to all careers, and to role models and companies for their future.  All of our events and activities are compliments to school curriculum - they are hands-on, connect girls to role models, create community, and help boost confidence and a sense of belonging in STEM fields -- all which our research has shown are needed to move the needle for more gender balance in these fields.We work with amazing global partners to make this happen - reach out to find out how you can be one of them.

<h1>Dear future scientist,</h1>We are thrilled to invite you to our broadcast series, where we will combine awe-inspiring role models with storytelling... Science, you had me at hello®!For our new broadcast, we are celebrating STEM in all forms in partnership with National Science Week ACT by inviting 100 girls aged 15+ from across the ACT and more to hear the awe-inspiring stories from Australian local role models in STEM! We hope you are hungry because our theme on this episode is NOURISH in celebration of National Science Week&#x27;s focus on Food: Different by design. We are asking our speakers how do they nourish their passion for science and technology in their career, how do they diversify the flavour of their lives, how do they feed their soul, and even... how can we supercharge our food future?! As always, we can&#x27;t wait to share mouth-watering experiments with you with food microbiology and more!All our speakers are incredible role models in their diverse fields. Our goal is to showcase their inspiring stories and provide our participants a unique platform where they&#x27;ll get the exclusive opportunity to interact with them, and ask questions to these amazing role-models. &quot;What obstacle did you face so far in your career path? What is your biggest achievement? What would you say to the 15 year-old self... &quot; We can&#x27;t wait to listen to their great answers!Our broadcast will last 45 minutes and will include a innovative and hands-on experiment that you can all replicate at home! Please note, once you register, you will receive the official link to join the call a few hours before the event. All participants will also receive two feedback surveys post-broadcast. This Inspiring Australia initiative is supported by the Australian Government as part of National Science WeekWondering who you will meet LIVE?-Meet Thanuri Welaratne! She is a science communicator from Canberra who is passionate about inspiring the next generation through informal education. With her background in ecology, administration, and relationship management, she currently holds the role as a Cyber Ready Officer at Questacon – the National Science and Technology Center. Her aim is to empower young people to feel confident and enthusiastic about science!-Meet Arabella Young! She is a student researcher at Ausralian National University having just graduated with a Bachelor of Science with Honours majoring in Science Communication, Ecological, Environmental and Organismal Biology. As she describes it, she figures out whether people who aren’t scientists understand science… And if they don’t, she figures out how to fix that. When she is not diving into all things STEM and education, you can find her running ultramarathons!-Meet Alexandra McFadyen! She is a recent graduate from the University of Canberra studying biomedical science. She loves to volunteer with Girl Guides in her free time and lightweight camping is one of her favourite hobbies. Adventurous and detail-orientated, Alexandra is looking forward to her next role within the Australian Public Service soon.--<h3>About our broadcast series</h3>From our own <a href="http://www.greenlightforgirls.org/g4g-and-ku-leuven-impact-project" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Impact studies</a>, we know that one thing is key to inspiring girls to pursue STEM subjects – and that is, to provide a community of role models. Tailored to our older g4g students who are determining what studies to pursue in university, these virtual broadcasts connect female scientists and STEM leaders to the next generation of potential engineers, scientists and curiosity-filled young women and men.Particularly, we&#x27;ll be asking awe-inspiring role models to share that ONE moment, that SPARK, that apple-falling-off-the-tree EPIPHANY where they knew that science and their being were inexplicably intertwined. All these stories will be told LIVE and are designed to encourage you to think about what inspires you, to begin to contemplate your purpose and to create some ideas on how you can get there.--<h3>Safety &amp; Privacy</h3>We ensure that private information remains confidential, particularly by utilizing Zoom’s safety functions such as waiting rooms, passwords, authenticated users, in-meeting security controls, control of screen sharing, and control of disabling, blocking, or muting users.We will be monitoring online safety during the broadcast by having a Safety Officer as part of our dedicated behind-the-scenes team which will monitor unruly chat or be ready to remove anyone that doesn’t belong (using the security controls built into Zoom).
