TWIC is the Local Environmental Records Centre for south east and part of central Scotland that collects, collates and disseminates information about the wildlife in our area. The Centre is a not-for-profit company with charitable status and provides objective, independent wildlife information for people and organisations.TWIC is the focal point for biological recording in our area and is working to increase our knowledge of the land, freshwater and marine wildlife throughout our region. The Centre provides a wide range of data services; we routinely supply data to local authorities for screening planning applications, to consultants for preparing environmental assessments and to students and academics for research.The ongoing development of TWIC and its services is funded by grant aid from NatureScot, service level agreements with local authorities and income from contract work, projects and voluntary contributions.TWIC is a company registered in Scotland (No SC234339) and a registered Scottish Charity SC034113.

The Wildlife Information Centre

Group recording session at North Berwick Nature Park, East Lothian

Aim: Morning recording session to collect as many wildlife species records as possible for the North Berwick Nature Park. After checking the moth trap we will explore the rest of the site. In the afternoon there will be public guided walks - please book for these separately.Site details: 16ha site to the south of North Berwick in East Lothian, which is owned by the North Berwick Trust. The habitats on site comprise a mixture of wildflower meadows, scrub and trees. The site falls within vice-county 82 (East Lothian) and is partly covered by the following 1km squares: NT5484, NT5584 , NT5483 and NT5583. TWIC currently do not hold any species records specific to the site.Records generated from the event will be shared with the North Berwick Trust and will help inform their management plan for the site.Leader: Natalie Harmsworth (TWIC)Booking essential as spaces will be limited to 15.Meeting details: Provided after booking.Suitable for: Recorders and local naturalists. Over 18s only.Cost: Choose either the free ticket type or the donation ticket type (minimum donation £1). Donations to TWIC will support our work in organising biological recording training workshops and events.Requirements: Lunch and drink, outdoor footwear, waterproofs/ sunscreen, sunhat (as weather dictates) and anti-bacterial hand gel. A recording map will be emailed to participants before the event - please print your own copy, if possible. Please do not share food or drink with people outside your household at this event. No car sharing with people from outside your household. Please note you should not attend this event if you or anyone in your home has COVID -19 symptoms or you have been asked to self-isolate by NHS or Protect Scotland tracing app.All appropriate COVID risk assessment and procedures will be followed at this event - including 1m social distancing.
