A two-day ECR online conference themed as East Asia on the Move through the interdisciplinary lens hosted by PhD students & postdocs at UoE.

We are delighted to present a two-day ECR conference themed as East Asia on the Move: Shifting Dynamics with more than 80 presenters including PhD students, Postdocs, Independent Scholars and early career academics in academic discipline related to East Asia.In the past two centuries, East Asia has experienced significant economic, social and political changes. Against such profound geo-cultural, geo-economic and geopolitical shifts, this conference aims to shed light on these epoch-making changes and their impacts on East Asian societies through the interdisciplinary lens. <h3>Day 1_ 10:15am -19:00 pm </h3>Keynote Speakers:Professor Dal Yong Jin (Simon Fraser University)Dal Yong Jin is a distinguished SFU Professor. After working as a journalist for many years, he completed his Ph.D. in the Institute of Communications Research at the University of Illinois in 2005. Jin’s major research and teaching interests are on digital platforms and digital games, globalization and media, transnational cultural studies, and the political economy of media and culture.Professor Rana Mitter ( University of Oxford)Rana Mitter is a professor of the History and Politics of Modern China. He works on the emergence of nationalism in modern China, both in the early twentieth century and in the present era.Professor Bruce Cumings (University of Chicago)Bruce Cumings is Gustavus F. and Ann M. Swift Distinguished Service Professor of History and the College. His research and teaching focus on modern Korean history, twentieth-century international history, US–East Asian relations, East Asian political economy, and American foreign relations.Professor Namhee Lee (University of California,Los Angeles) Namhee Lee is Professor of modern Korean history and Director of the Center for Korean Studies at the University of California, Los Angeles.<h3>Day 2_ 8:30am – 17:10 pm </h3>Keynote Speakers: Professor William A. Callahan (London School of Economics and Political Science)William A. Callahan is professor of international relations at the London School of Economics and Political Science.Professor Rosemary Foot (University of Oxford)Rosemary Foot is a Professor in the Department of Politics and International Relations, University of Oxford, an Emeritus Fellow of St Antony&#x27;s College, Oxford, and a Research Associate of Oxford’s China Centre. In 1996, she was elected as a fellow of the British Academy.
