Choose Poetry, Choose Life Open Mic

A dramatic poem about a Chick on a Motorcycle Road Trip who stops in Tucumcari, New Mexico and accidentally eats peyote-spiked soup.

AJ McKenna and Erin Gannon perform a short-epic dramatic poem about a A Chick on a Motorcycle Road Trip who makes a pit-stop in Tucumcari, New Mexico. In this desert town, she encounters tweaky behavior from locals and Peyote-spiked soup; but also discovers that the land is inhabited by at least one kinder, gentler ancestor who waits, watches, and sometimes provides guidance and protection to the beleagured traveler. Penned by Erin Gannon, the piece explores themes of sexism, ageism, bullying, domestic violence, and freedom. Original score written by Morgan Geer (Drunken Prayer) and Alex McMahon (The Handsome Family).
