A pop up outdoor screening of a NEW 15-minute film ‘Cinescapes: Redrawing Edinburgh’  is lighting up Dower House: Corstorphine Trust.

Historical Scenes are lighting up Edinburgh's skies with this spectacular outdoor screening in Dower House: Corstorphine on 3 September 2021.About the event.On the night, an approx 15-minute film ‘Cinescapes: ReDrawing Edinburgh’ will be projected on a loop of 3 with individual tickets to be assigned at 30 minutes intervals with attendance occurring in a socially distanced manner.The film has been created from archive footage showing the 5 areas which were amalgamated with Edinburgh in 1920 through the Edinburgh Boundaries Extension and Tramways Act. Redrawing Edinburgh celebrates the strong independent identities of the areas of Cramond, Colinton, Corstorphine, Liberton, and Leith had back then and how they have retained them throughout the past century. This isn't just about nostalgia, it's about identity. We're celebrating the individual spirits that make up Edinburgh by screening the projections in the places they are from.Leith born scriptwriter Alistair Rutherford, has written the screenplay for the film, which includes footage from all five areas tol inspire people to think about local history in a new way. The film is also accompanied by an original score produced by Edinburgh based musical duo Dowally.We strive to be as accessible as possible with wheelchair access and facilities on site. All film content will be shown with closed captions for D/deaf and hard of hearing audience members. This ensures a safe experience for everyone following all government guidelines. 🎥 An open air outdoor cinema experience at a cool outdoor space with a top backstory. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👪 All ages accessible and pet friendly.⛅ The event will go ahead if it's raining and while we hope it’s a warm Sunny evening in Scotland, but we advise a protective jacket in case of rain and wind! -----------------------------------------------------------‘Cinescapes: ReDrawing Edinburgh’ is proudly supported by Creative Scotland, Event Scotland, the BFI Film Audience Network with National Lottery funding as part of New Directions, Ancestry and the City of Edinburgh Council.Redrawing Edinburgh was originally conceived by local representatives of the boundary extension areas and the City of Edinburgh Council as a way of celebrating the areas brought into the city by the boundary extension of 1920. But because of Covid safety concerns many of the planned physical exhibitions and events could not go ahead during the centenary year. Instead activity turned online.
