<h1>ONLINE BOOK LAUNCH: &#x27;Confronting Antisemitism on the Left: Arguments for Socialists&#x27;</h1><h3>Preorder the book <a href="https://www.waterstones.com/book/confronting-antisemitism-on-the-left/daniel-randall//9781913532581" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">here</a>.</h3><h3><a href="https://www.nopasaran.media/confronting-antisemitism-on-the-left/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">No Pasaran Media</a> presents: Daniel Randall in conversation with Dr. Camila Bassi</h3><h3>Thursday 23 September, 6:30-8pm, on Zoom</h3><h3></h3><p>How did the political left, a movement apparently committed to equality, become a site of antisemitism, and how can antisemitism on the left be overcome?</p><p></p><p>In this new book, published by No Pasaran Media, Daniel Randall traces left antisemitism&#x27;s origins to primitive critiques of capitalism that conflated Jews with capital; Stalinism&#x27;s &quot;anti-cosmpolitan&quot; and &quot;anti-Zionist&quot; campaigns of the 1950s onwards; and a form of &quot;anti-imperialism&quot; which designates any opposition to western imperialism, including Israel, as necessarily progressive.</p><p></p><p>Randall argues that, far from representing a logical continuation or inevitable end-point of left-wing ideas, left antisemitism represents a distortion of them, and that by re-anchoring the socialist project in a class-struggle politics of solidarity and equality, the left can confront and overcome antisemitism within its own ranks.</p><p></p><p>This book aims to build on the legacy of Steve Cohen&#x27;s <em>That&#x27;s Funny, You Don&#x27;t Look Antisemitic</em>, first published in 1984, and republished by No Pasaran Media in 2019, and includes a new foreword by Steve Cohen&#x27;s son Tom Cohen.</p><p></p><p>As the left, especially in the Labour Party, continues to grapple with these issues, this book represents a pointed intervention into a difficult but necessary debate.</p><p></p><p>This online launch event will feature a conversation between the author and Dr. Camila Bassi, Senior Lecturer in Human Geography at Sheffield Hallam University, who has written extensively about left antisemitism, racism, and anti-racism, and who also wrote a foreword for the book.
