Date: 2nd November 2021Time: 14:00 - 16:00Additional Information:This event will hosted via Microsoft Teams.Who this event is forNational and Local Organisations who advise and support clients to claim Child Disability Payment, for example; Welfare Rights Advisors, Financial Inclusion Staff, Health and Social Care Support Staff and Advocates. It would also be beneficial for those who work in policy, learning and development and communications teams.This event will provide you with information about the end to end journey for clients applying for Child Disability Payment including:•	the eligibility criteria for Child Disability Payment and how this has changed •	the application process•	support available to help clients apply •	how we will process applications and make decisions•	how our clients can ask us to look again at a decision we have made•	accessing passported benefits •	what will happen if a client has a change in their circumstances•	when will client reviews happen and what will they look like•	when will clients transfer from the Department of Work and Pensions •	what happens if a child is diagnosed as terminally ill•	transitioning on from Child Disability Payment to Adult Disability PaymentYou will have opportunity to ask any questions you may have of the people who have designed Child Disability Payment and our policy colleagues in the Scottish Government. You will also be provided with a range of stakeholder resources to help you inform your network about Child Disability Payment.Child Disability Payment NationalFollowing the successful launch of Child Disability Payment in the pilot areas: Dundee, Perth &amp; Kinross and the Western Isles.Social Security Scotland will be launching Child Disability Payment nationally this Autumn.Child Disability Payment is designed to provide extra money to help with the costs of caring for a child with a disability or ill-health condition.Child Disability Payment will replace Disability Living Allowance for Children, which is currently delivered by the Department for Work and Pensions.Launch of Local Delivery ServiceOur Local Delivery service launched on 26 July 2021, to support people in the three pilot areas to get information about Social Security Scotland’s benefits and support to make an application. The Local Delivery Service will also launch nationally this autumn.Purpose of this eventSocial Security Scotland wants to make sure both you and the people you support have all the relevant information you need about Child Disability Payment before it opens for applications nationally.Further Information and QuestionsFor further information or if you have questions about this event please email National Engagement and Partnership Team NationalEngagementandPartnershipTeam@SocialSecurity.Gov.Scot Background• Child Disability Payment will provide money to help with the extra care and `mobility costs children and young people with a disability may have, up to the age of 18• People who currently get disability benefits from the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) will have their awards transferred to the new Scottish system in stages after the new benefits are introduced. This work is expected to be completed in 2025• Young people and children in Scotland who are currently getting Disability Living Allowance for children from the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) will no longer need to apply for Personal Independence Payments (PIP) when they turn 16.
