Who this event is for
National and Local Organisations who advise and support clients to claim Child Disability Payment, for example; Welfare Rights Advisors, Financial Inclusion Staff, Health and Social Care Support Staff and Advocates. It would also be beneficial for those who work in policy, learning and development and communications teams.
This event will provide you with information about the end to end journey for clients applying for Child Disability Payment including:
•	the eligibility criteria for Child Disability Payment and how this has changed 
•	the application process
•	support available to help clients apply 
•	how we will process applications and make decisions
•	how our clients can ask us to look again at a decision we have made
•	accessing passported benefits 
•	what will happen if a client has a change in their circumstances
•	when will client reviews happen and what will they look like
•	when will clients transfer from the Department of Work and Pensions 
•	what happens if a child is diagnosed as terminally ill
•	transitioning on from Child Disability Payment to Adult Disability Payment
You will have opportunity to ask any questions you may have of the people who have designed Child Disability Payment and our policy colleagues in the Scottish Government. You will also be provided with a range of stakeholder resources to help you inform your network about Child Disability Payment.
Child Disability Payment National
Following the successful launch of Child Disability Payment in the pilot areas: Dundee, Perth &amp; Kinross and the Western Isles.
Social Security Scotland will be launching Child Disability Payment nationally this Autumn.
Child Disability Payment is designed to provide extra money to help with the costs of caring for a child with a disability or ill-health condition.
Child Disability Payment will replace Disability Living Allowance for Children, which is currently delivered by the Department for Work and Pensions.
Launch of Local Delivery Service
Our Local Delivery service launched on 26 July 2021, to support people in the three pilot areas to get information about Social Security Scotland’s benefits and support to make an application. The Local Delivery Service will also launch nationally this autumn.
Purpose of this event
Social Security Scotland wants to make sure both you and the people you support have all the relevant information you need about Child Disability Payment before it opens for applications nationally.

Background
• Child Disability Payment will provide money to help with the extra care and `mobility costs children and young people with a disability may have, up to the age of 18
• People who currently get disability benefits from the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) will have their awards transferred to the new Scottish system in stages after the new benefits are introduced. This work is expected to be completed in 2025
• Young people and children in Scotland who are currently getting Disability Living Allowance for children from the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) will no longer need to apply for Personal Independence Payments (PIP) when they turn 16. The personal data you provide e.g. names, email addresses and Job titles are necessary for us to run the event. The additional data we would like you to provide is discretionary and will help us ensure we are reaching a range of relevant stakeholders across the whole of Scotland.

What do we do with your data?
We collect your data for three main purposes:
1 – To communicate with you about an event or intervention that you have registered for. This may include sending out pre-event information, and follow up emails, for example event evaluations.
2 – To update you on upcoming and future Social Security Scotland events, and share opportunities that may be of interest.
3 – To demonstrate the spread and impact, for example, by sharing the number of people from a specific organisation or sector for evaluations and reporting.
Your data will be used as follows:
1 – Your data will be shared with those organising the event you have registered for, to allow them to plan the event and communicate with you about any specifics. 
2 – If you consent, your data will be stored to allow Social Security Scotland to contact you about future events or opportunities which may be of interest.
3 – We may be asked to report back to organisations and provide data, for example sharing with a local authority the number of their staff who have participated in a specific event. We will not directly share your data without your consent. This means that we will not share delegate lists or network lists with third parties who request access. If a third party wishes to communicate with you, for example about an event or opportunity, we will send a message to you on their behalf.

The Scottish Government has a Data Protection regime in place to oversee the effective and secure processing of your personal data.
How long is your data kept?
Your personal data is retained for as long as the Scottish Government has a relationship with you and the data is required to support the service that we offer – in this case the networks, events and other opportunities provided by Social Security Agency. This means that we will maintain contact with you unless you withdraw consent.
