In this workshop you will learn the basic techniques and skills required from a composer and a sound designer. Oğuz will also compare the differences of sound design and use of music in theatre and film. You'll have the opportunity to create and demonstrate live foley and sound design ideas on a given script.Oğuz Kaplangı is an award winning Turkish composer and sound designer based in Edinburgh. In 2018 and that same year he was awarded with the “Best Music and Sound in Scotland Theatre” at the CATS AWARDS for the music he composed for Zinnie Harris’ adaptation of Ionesco’s play, “Rhinoceros”. Oğuz has scored music for 15 feature films including box office hits, and written music for US TV shows including A&amp;E’s Emmy-nominated, “Wahlburgers”. Theatre credits include Lyceum Christmas Tales (Royal Lyceum Theatre); Tiny Tim (Royal Lyceum Theatre); Nyanya and the Mighty Wizz! (Royal Lyceum Theatre); Rabbit Catcher (Traverse Theatre); Doomsdays (Traverse Theatre); Mrs Puntila and Her Man Matti (Royal Lyceum Theatre); A Museum in Baghdad (Royal Shakespeare Company).These workshops are only available to directory members. If you do not have a profile already, please create one on our website in order to book yourself into workshops.Because there is limited space in each workshop, you can only register for up to 3 workshops. However, this doesn’t include the four “Creative Huddles” and “Writing a Successful Arts Council Application”. This means you can attend up to 8 workshops in total.*Please email us on info@menaarts.uk if you have any access needs.
