PEN International is delighted to invite you to join the closing ceremony of its 87th Congress on 24th September 2021 at 14.00 UK time. Themed “100 years of Celebrating Literature and Protecting Freedom of Expression,” the event will feature the highly anticipated inaugural speech of PEN International’s new President, which will be announced from a prestigious pool of candidates – authors Gioconda Belli, Ben Okri and Burhan Sönmez.To be followed by an exploration of ‘Against Hate’, a conversation between Salman Rushdie and Carolin Emcke; and speeches from acclaimed writers, human rights activists and former PEN’s cases: J.M.
