SCCR ONLINE CONFERENCE - A Different Normal–'Reconnection' workshop

Part of Cyrenians, the Scottish Centre for Conflict Resolution (SCCR) is a national resource promoting and supporting best practice in family conflict resolution, mediation and early intervention. Family relationship breakdown is one of the biggest causes of youth homelessness. Therefore, the focus of the centre is on young people and their families experiencing conflict which is affecting both their relationships and their lives.The SCCR is delivering a range of free events and resources, including a series of local seminars, national conferences across Scotland, free training sessions, and online resources for practitioners, young people and families. We acknowledge the support of the Scottish Government through a CYPFEIF  and ALEC Fund Grant. Cyrenians is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO), registered charity SC011052.

SCCR INTERNATIONAL ONLINE CONFERENCE 2021: &#x27;THE POWER OF RECONNECTION&#x27; .After months of Covid and lockdowns, the need to reconnect has never been stronger. Shutting away from &#x27;normal&#x27; life has had numerous knock-on effects for individuals, families and society, which we are just beginning to find the time and the space to deal with. We are now leaving our homes and returning to workplaces; we are seeing friends and family; we are rediscovering the joys of everyday life. It is a time of opportunity and reflection; as we start off on our journeys of healing, we are all learning first-hand the power of reconnection.Cyrenians&#x27; SCCR&#x27;s 2021 Free Online International Conference takes as this year’s theme ‘The Power of Reconnection’. Reconnection may mean many things to different people – reconnecting with loved ones, reconnecting with causes, or simply reconnecting with oneself. As isolation has exacerbated familial and societal fault lines, we have a pressing question to answer: how do we ensure reconnection, both at home and across society, can form a first positive step on a truly global journey of healing? Our programme of free online events will bring together speakers and collaborators to share their wealth of experience. Together we&#x27;ll examine how we grow strong positive relationships and reconnect with our family, friends, ourselves, and the wider society through interactive workshops, discussions and the arts. A Different Normal – &#x27;Reconnection&#x27; - SCCR WorkshopThis interactive workshop is on the 19th October at 10:00 with Duncan Gordon, Trainer and Andrew Boyd, Mediation and Conflict Resolution Advisor from Cyrenians Scottish Centre for Conflict Resolution. This workshop will explore how it feels to reconnect when we return to a different &#x27;normal&#x27;. How will we manage this reconnection and the opportunities and challenges that come with it? The workshop will include activities, a chance for discussion and finish with a Q&amp;A from our facilitators. Duncan Gordon is a qualified trainer and has worked in a variety of roles within the third sector for many years, working and managing projects related to the employability of ex-offenders and young people at risk of offending. Duncan’s last position saw him involved in workforce development, designing and delivering staff development programmes and performance management workshops. As the SCCR’s Trainer, Duncan delivers Conflict Resolution training to those who work with young people and families and to young people and families across Scotland.Andrew Boyd is a mediator and has worked with young people and their families for the Cyrenians Mediation &amp; Support Service in Edinburgh. Andrew has also worked in community mediation, landlord/tenant mediation, workplace mediation and in the small claims court at Glasgow Sheriff Court. Following completion of an LLB in Law, Andrew completed his MSc in Mediation and Conflict Resolution at Strathclyde University. In his role with SCCR, Andrew inputs his conflict resolution experience to the SCCR resources and events, and also delivers training throughout Scotland to young people, parents/carers and professionalsThis event will be delivered on the online platform Zoom. If you book on to the event you will be sent the details via email on how to join nearer the time to the event when bookings have closed. Please note Zoom offers video capability so you can join with your webcam on, but this is entirely up to you and this option can be turned off. However we would love to see your faces and feel it is a more interactive experience with videos on.We hope to see you online soon!
