Join Holistic Healing Practitioner and Soul Doula, Eva Lake, for an hour of deep and soothing soundbath relaxation, followed by optional herbal tea, cake, biscuits and chat.Grief affects every part of our being - the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. Soundbaths offer a gentle, non-verbal way to process and create a space where people can rest, release, and reconnect with themselves without needing to “do” anything.Who is this for:Kindly funded by Leeds City Council, Hey Neighbour, Leeds Older People's Forum and ABCD in Leeds, these seven sessions are designed for those affected by bereavement or those currently experiencing anticipatory grief.What to expect:You’ll be encouraged to lie down on a fold out bed and get comfortable under a blanket. After a short meditation, you’ll be immersed in a soothing soundscape while you drift off into relaxation. Afterwards, there will be an opportunity to stay and have a cuppa and a biscuit with others who are also experiencing bereavement. However, there is no pressure, and if you'd rather float off into the rest of your day, that’s absolutely fine. Benefits of Soundbaths for People Experiencing Bereavement: <ul><li>Emotional Regulation &amp; Nervous System Support</li></ul>Bereavement can leave us in a constant state of emotional overwhelm. The soothing tones of instruments like singing bowls, chimes, and drums help activate the parasympathetic nervous system, calming the body and allowing a sense of safety. This can reduce symptoms such as anxiety, insomnia, and emotional dysregulation. <ul><li>Non-Verbal Emotional Processing</li></ul>Grief often lives beyond words. Sound bypasses the thinking mind and meets people where they are emotionally. Participants can release stuck or unexpressed feelings including sorrow, anger, guilt or numbness, without needing to speak or explain. <ul><li>A Sense of Connection and Presence</li></ul>Loss often brings with it a sense of isolation. A soundbath creates a collective, compassionate space for people to grieve in the company of others. Even in silence, this can help participants feel less alone in their experience and more connected to something greater than themselves. <ul><li>Restoring Sleep and Soothing the Body</li></ul>Soundbaths are particularly effective in helping regulate sleep patterns - something that’s often deeply disrupted in grief. They can also ease physical tension, support heart rate regulation, and lower blood pressure, all of which can be thrown off during periods of mourning. <ul><li>Creating a Gentle Ritual Space</li></ul>Soundbaths can become part of a healing ritual - a moment to pause, reflect, honour, and begin to rebuild. This is especially powerful when words feel empty or when traditional mourning spaces don’t quite meet the needs of the grieving individual. <ul><li>Spiritual Support</li></ul>For those seeking spiritual comfort (whether religious or not), soundbaths can offer a sense of connection to the unseen - to the person lost, to source, or simply to the deeper self. They invite a meditative, open-hearted state where insight, release, or even peace may arise. What you will need:Please bring some water to stay hydrated. Although the studio has plenty, feel free to bring your own blankets and cushions to make sure you're extra comfortable. You will be lying down and it's not unusual for your body temperature to drop once you start to relax, so make sure you're dressed appropriately. Don't forget your comfy socks.Please note: The event is not suitable for the following health conditions: epilepsy, heart conditions (incl.pacemakers), any metal implants inside the body or first trimester of pregnancy. Please consult your doctor if you are concerned about any health issues ahead of the session.About the venue:Studio 6 is on the second floor of an old Mill that unfortunately doesn't have a lift, and therefore accessibility is limited.
