Hong Sang-soo | 66&#x27;mins | Drama | UK PremiereSouth Korean auteur Hong Sang-soo is also cinematographer (alongside, directing, writing, editing and composing) on this delicate monochrome drama focusing on encounters between characters in Berlin and Seoul. Juwon (Park Miso) has come to Berlin to study fashion. While there she meets an artist (Kim Min-hee), a friend of her mother’s, who puts her up. Two year’s later, Juwon’s boyfriend Youngho (Shin Seokho) meets a famous actor (Ki Joo-bong) who is a friend of his mother’s (Cho Yunhee). But there are more connections between these two stories as Hong draws out the intricacies of human relationships. It’s an elliptical approach that has paid off well in the past and here, in a film that reveals its complexity as it progresses, the filmmaker once again proves why his work is so beloved by audiences.
