Chi-Man Wan | 102&#x27;mins | Biography, Sport | UK PremiereThe extraordinary achievements of Paralympian So Wa Wai are the subject of Wan Chi-Man’s winning film. Born with severe jaundice, which affected his hearing and the balance of his limbs, So Wa Wai nevertheless took up running and by the age of ten had been spotted by an athletics coach. He made his Paralympic debut at the Atlanta games in 1996, the first of five editions of the global sporting event that he would take part in, running in the 100m, 200m and 400m races under the category T36, for athletes with cerebral palsy. Wan’s film details his journey and the obstacles he faced in becoming world champion and the first Hong Kong Paralympian to return home with a gold medal. It’s an inspiring and tale and movingly told.
