Opening day two of LEAFF's Weekend at the Odeon West End, we bring you Benny Chan's directorial debut in Screen 1.

Benny Chan | 92'mins | Drama </strong></p><p>Benny Chan’s feature directorial debut is screening as part of LEAFF’s tribute to the recently departed filmmaker. Andy Lau plays a getaway driver for a gang of thieves who takes a young woman hostage after a job goes south. He eventually saves her from a certain death and gradually they fall in love. But there is a change of command in the Triad gang and both the driver and his girlfriend are again faced with danger. Chan’s signature kinetic style is already in place – he had already spent years honing his craft as an assistant to Johnnie To – but the film’s romantic tone, tinged with melancholy, immediately singled out the filmmaker as a bold new voice in Hong Kong cinema.</p>
