A CHRISTMAS CAROL

The City of Cambridge Brass Band has been performing in and around the Cambridgesire area for over 120 years.  Over the years the band has enjoyed success on the contest stage, undertaken various recordings and radio broadcasts, performed on television and in high profile concerts in addition to numerous programmes of light music in local parks, weddings, garden parties and festivals around the county. In 2010 the band undertook its first ever performance outside the UK performing in Paris with Parisian brass band Brassage and also in the Parc du Champs de Mars at the foot of the Eiffel Tower. More recently, the band was delighted to achieve a 2nd Place win at the 2025 National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain

Christmas music and narrated excerpts from Dickens 'A Christmas Carol' come together to create this immersive festive experience

St John's Church, Peterborough

Immerse yourself in this thoroughly Dickensian Christmas experience, created in the atmospheric surroundings of St John's Church by The City of Cambridge Brass Band and actor/narrator Matt Ray Brown.Doors open at 7pm for traditional mulled wine and mince pies before the lights dim and Charles Dickens himself (actor Alexander Wakelam) invites us into his classic evocation of a victorian Christmastime. Brought to life in a series or narrated scenes, interwoven with seasonal music, this is a unique experience not to be missed.Performance will start at 7.30pm and there will be no interval.
